Audrey Wensing
has type 2 diabetes
since 2003
My name is Audrey Wensing. About 18 months ago, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I was 59 years old then and, even though my father also had type 2 diabetes when he was a little older than me, I was completely dumbfounded when I heard the diagnosis.
I was first prescribed medicine, but from the beginning I had problems with nausea and intestinal inconveniences. My glucose meter more and more often gave low readings and these hypos really frightened me. I even became so frightened that I was afraid to get a hypo in my sleep and nobody would notice it!
I stopped taking the medicine and decided to get my diabetes under control by means of a diet. The next 6 months I was trying, by trial and error via a change in my eating habits, to regulate my blood sugar level but, even though I was beginning to feel a little better, the readings were still fl uctuating up to as high as 8.7 mmol/l. I was, however, following a healthy diet—wholemeal bread, lots of raw vegetables—and over time I had lost 16 kilos.
In March 2005, I saw an advertisement for Diabecinn. Under the motto ”It doesn’t hurt to try” I decided to try Diabecinn and I do not regret it. Since I have been taking Diabecinn, my blood sugar level is repeatedly between 5 and 7 and my cholesterol is also lower. I not only feel better, but my self-confi dence has also returned because of the reassuring readings. My doctor is also very satisfi ed with the result.
Since my diagnosis, I have read and learned a great deal about diabetes. It is a very nasty illness. There are, of course, millions of people, who have a more serious type of diabetes than me, but I am convinced that Diabecinn has helped me. I have even recommended it to various people with diabetes.
